The Witch Returns to Life (updated 03.10.2008)

'The Witch returns to Life' is a play written by a Finnish author Mika Waltari. Prejudices, passions and jealousy arises in the community when a strange woman arrives from a swamp at a stormy night. Sounds like a horrorplay, but this version is more like a social comedy of themes that are topical in the modern western world.

Our performance includes for instance dance movements and elements of physical theatre. Music and lights has also a huge role in the entirity.

About Tähtisumu

Tähtisumu ("Starfog") is a Finnish non-profit associaton, founded in 2003. Our policy is to focus on theatre-pedagogic education for children and youth, especially the disabled and other marginal groups. One of the important purposes of our activities is to give tools for handling different situations in everyday life, and also to encourage to creative self-expression.

We also support our youth towards professional artistic working in the society. The Tähtisumu association organizes courses, workshops and productions, mainly in the field of theatre.

The youth musical Belfastin lapset (The Children of Belfast, 2005) was the first "big thing" we made together, and it was very successful in many ways. The next project was Violante in 2007. The third project was Henrik Ibsen's play Nora which had its premiere in March 2008. Currently we are working on Mika Waltari's 'The Witch Returns to Life'

Our policy and philosophy is to make as much as possible - from the beginning to the end - by ourselves, in a hand-made, do-it-yourself-method. Our motto is "small and sympathic". Since Tähtisumu is not a source of maintainance for anyone, are we able to keep participation to our courses free for the members of the association (and not even being a member is eventually demanded, if it for some reason isn't possible).

Our growing group consists of a wide variety of skilled and creative persons. If you want to be part of something good and useful, don't hesitate to contact and join us! You don't have to feel like being a master before joining the team, as long as you are interested and willing to learn more and move forward in a relaxed mood together with inspiring people, we'd be more than happy to hear from you!
